External hemorrhoids can easily be detected as it is a visible lump hanging out of anus and followed by discharge of blood during bowel movement. But it is bit difficult to determine internal hemorrhoids and one has to consult a doctor for undergoing proper diagnosis with the help of hemorrhoids test. Although rectal bleeding is one of the symptoms of hemorrhoids but there nay be other serious gastro-intestinal disorders that may also result in bleeding.
Generally doctors recommend for stool examination for the diagnosis of hemorrhoids. It is carried under a microscope for the presence of blood in the sample. In case of internal hemorrhoids the blood may be present in small amount which is not visible by naked eyes as it is not bright red in appearance. If the doctor is still not sure about presence of hemorrhoids, he may further examine the patients.
Digital Rectal Exam is carried out for hemorrhoids test in which doctors insert their lubricated fingers after wearing gloves in the rectum to feel internal hemorrhoids. Patients usually feel embarrassed to undergo this diagnosis but it provides important clue regarding the position of hemorrhoids and is generally completed within short span of time. It is generally followed by anoscopy, in which a small device called anoscope bearing light is inserted in rectum to have a proper view of hemorrhoids or any abnormalities causing pain and suffering.
After carrying out the above tests, the doctor gets important information and comes to a conclusion whether its hemorrhoids or some fissures that also has similar symptoms. It is important to have hemorrhoids test as advised by the doctor for proper treatment of hemorrhoids.
